We will gladly advise you about nearby destinations in
Switzerland.
Bernina Express – an experience of a very special kind
The Albula and Bernina route of the
Rhaetian Railway is one of the most spectacular ways to cross the Alps. A particular high-point of the ride is the panoramic view from the Bernina Express as it descends from Davos past glaciers to the palms of Tirano. The Bernina Express is the classic among the premium trains of the Rhaetian Railway and travels along the highest railway line in the Alps. It connects northern and southern Europe, providing a bridge between various language regions and culture The train makes short work of the 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and slopes of up to 70 millimetres per metre of incline that are found along the route from Thusis to Tirano. Since summer 2008, this section has been classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Chur – capital of the Canton of Grisons
Pay a visit to our capital, which with its 5,000-year history is the oldest town in Switzerland. Take a look inside the 800-year-old cathedral or explore the picturesque old town.
Chur is also perfect just for a relaxing stroll or doing a bit of shopping.
Toboggan run in Preda Bergün
The train from Klosters will get you to Preda in less than 2 hours . The mountain road over the Albula pass is closed to traffic in winter and serves instead as Europe’s best-known tobbogan run.
Sledge down the 6 km to Bergün – an incredible experience. In the high season a train runs every 30 minutes to take you from Bergün back up to Preda. Jump on your sledge and race back down, or take your time - under 5 minutes is the record but most need around 20.
